Supporting Sensory Inclusion at Get Up To Speed with STEM 2026

Sensory Igloo Ambispace support Get Up to Speed at Magna South Yorkshire

AmbiSpace Will Proudly Return to Magna to Support Thousands of Young People in 2027

At AmbiSpace, creating inclusive environments is at the heart of everything we do. That's why we were delighted to once again support Get Up To Speed with STEM at Magna Science Adventure Centre, one of South Yorkshire's most inspiring events for young people exploring future careers, education pathways, and opportunities within STEM industries.

Hosted by Work-wise, the event brought together schools, colleges, universities, employers, and industry leaders to showcase the exciting possibilities available to the next generation. Throughout the day, thousands of students had the opportunity to engage with hands-on activities, speak with professionals, and discover career paths they may never have considered before.

Providing a Calm Space in a Busy Environment

Large-scale events can be exciting, but they can also be overwhelming for many young people.

To help ensure the event was accessible to everyone, AmbiSpace provided our popular Sensory Igloo, creating a dedicated calming space where students could take a break from the noise, crowds, and stimulation of the exhibition floor.

The Sensory Igloo was used throughout the day by students who needed an opportunity to regulate, recharge, and reset before returning to enjoy the event. Seeing first-hand how such a simple intervention can make a meaningful difference reinforced the importance of including sensory support provisions at public events, exhibitions, and educational experiences.

Celebrating Opportunities Across South Yorkshire

Get Up To Speed with STEM brought together an impressive range of organisations committed to inspiring young people, including businesses and institutions such as:

  • McLaren Racing
  • The University of Sheffield
  • Accu
  • Onboard Skatepark
  • Gulliver's Valley Resort
  • Vulcan to the Sky Trust
  • National Emergency Services Museum
  • And many more innovative organisations from across the region

The event highlighted the strength of collaboration between education and industry, helping students gain valuable insight into future careers while building connections with employers and education providers.

A Special Visit from St Bernard's School

One of the highlights of the day for the AmbiSpace team was meeting students from St Bernard's School in Rotherham.

We would like to thank Miss Smith and Mrs Cooper for bringing along such a fantastic group of students. Their enthusiasm, curiosity, and positivity were infectious, and it was wonderful to see how much they enjoyed spending time in the Sensory Igloo.

Moments like these remind us why inclusive spaces matter.

Why Sensory Spaces Matter at Events

For many neurodivergent individuals, busy events can present challenges including sensory overload, anxiety, and difficulties with concentration.

Providing access to sensory spaces can help by:

  • Reducing the impact of noise and visual stimulation
  • Supporting emotional regulation and wellbeing
  • Creating opportunities for rest and recovery
  • Encouraging greater participation and engagement
  • Making events more welcoming and accessible for everyone

True inclusion means recognising that people experience environments differently and ensuring support is available when it's needed most.

Looking Ahead to Next Year

Following another successful event, we're excited to confirm that AmbiSpace will be supporting Get Up To Speed with STEM at Magna again next year.

We look forward to continuing our partnership with Work-wise, helping ensure that future events remain accessible and inclusive for all attendees. As awareness of neurodiversity and sensory needs continues to grow, it's encouraging to see more event organisers recognising the value of dedicated sensory spaces.

We can't wait to return to Magna, meet even more inspiring young people, and continue demonstrating how inclusive design can create better experiences for everyone.

Creating Inclusive Spaces Everywhere

Whether it's a school, workplace, airport, exhibition, community hub, or major public event, AmbiSpace remains committed to creating environments where people feel safe, supported, and able to thrive.

Because everyone deserves the opportunity to participate, learn, and succeed in a space that works for them.
