New Sensory Nook Installed Willow Primary School
Students and Staff 'Over the Moon' with New Sensory Nook Installed at Willow Primary School

Willow Primary School celebrated a truly special milestone last week as they proudly unveil their brand‑new Sensory Nook, the grand prize they earned by winning last year’s Primary School Enterprise Challenge.
Led by the brilliant teacher Laura Pownall, the students poured creativity, teamwork and heart into their winning concept. Seeing their original design brought to life was an emotional moment for everyone involved. Laura shared how “over the moon” the children were when the AmbiSpace team arrived, and how proud she felt showing us the students’ original Sensory Nook concept from the competition.
During our visit, Laura also told us she feels ready for this year’s PSEC finals, and she’s hoping Willow can go for back‑to‑back victories. With this year’s prize being a full sensory room, designed and built by AmbiSpace, the excitement is already building.
Why the Sensory Nook Matters
The Sensory Nook is more than a calming space, it’s a lifeline for students with sensory needs, especially those within the neurodivergent community.
Benefits include:
- A quiet, enclosed environment to regulate emotions
- Reduced sensory overwhelm in busy school settings
- A safe space for one‑to‑one support
- A comfortable area to focus, reset or chat with a friend
One of the biggest advantages is its portability. The Sensory Nook can be moved between classrooms or departments, giving schools the flexibility to support students wherever the need is greatest.
Seeing Willow Primary School embrace their Sensory Nook with such gratitude and enthusiasm is exactly why AmbiSpace Ltd continues to champion inclusive, sensory‑friendly environments.
We’re incredibly proud and were sure Davina Sumner and Exceed Learning Partnership are also proud of Laura, her students, and everything they achieved, and we can’t wait to see what they bring to this year’s finals.
